Matthew 19:25-26 (NIV) When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?” Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

A rich young man approached Jesus one day to ask Him what he needed to do to gain eternal life. Jesus responded by telling Him to keep the commandments. Then He outlined some of the commandments for him. After that, the young man told Jesus that he had kept all of the ones that He had mentioned. The young man then asked what is was that he lacked. Jesus told him that if he wanted to really do something that had eternal value, he should sell his possessions and help the poor. The young man went away sad, not being willing to make that sacrifice. Jesus then turned to His disciples and told them that it was easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God. The disciples got alarmed at this statement and asked the question above and Jesus gave them the answer. The answer was and is, you can’t do it but with God you can.

Many people misinterpret what Jesus said. Notice that Jesus did not say, all things are possible for God. That we know without a shadow of a doubt. What he did say was that all things are possible WITH God. What that means is that even though it is so very difficult for someone that has an overabundance of worldly wealth to fully surrender their life to God, while impossible for that person by themself, with God it is totally possible. That means that the rich person with God helping them can make it to heaven. That scenario, which is a person plus God, has so many possibilities. Let’s explore a few of them.

For Gideon, it was not possible for him or for him plus three hundred men to fight against an army of 140,000 men. But for Gideon plus God, that army was no match for them. For Daniel, it was not possible to spend a night in a den filled with hungry lions and escape with his life. But Daniel plus God was able to survive that death sentence because God was with him and shut the lions’ mouths. For Peter, it was not possible for him to walk out of prison a free man while being bound with chains between two soldiers with another two soldiers guarding the entrance. But those trained soldiers proved to be no hindrance for Peter plus God as the chains fell off and an angel escorted him right out of that prison in the midst of those soldiers.

The point is that there are a lot of things that are not possible for you. But you plus God is a powerful team that makes all things possible. You with God makes impossible things possible. Make it a point to walk daily with God so that all possibilities that God has prepared for you to participate in will fall in line with God’s plans and purposes for your life. You plus God is a winning combination!
